The Paris Eagles took their second conference loss of the season this past week, falling to the Glen Rose Beavers, 56-14. The Beavers scored the only points of the opening quarter on a 13-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead. In the second quarter, Glen Rose added two more scores. Paris responded when quarterback Josh Honea connected deep with Alex Wells, setting up a 1-yard touchdown run by Athan Wells. The Eagles found the endzone once more in the second half on a rushing touchdown from Jayden Carter, but the offense was held in check as Glen Rose secured the win and the conference title.

Paris struggled to find rhythm offensively. Honea completed 8 of 23 passes for 138 yards, but threw three interceptions. On the ground, the Eagles’ two touchdowns came from Wells and Carter. Through the air, Alex Wells led the receiving group with three catches for 98 yards, followed by Dimitri Capo, who hauled in two receptions for 43 yards. Defensively, Paris started the night strong, allowing just seven points in the first quarter, but the Beavers eventually pulled away, handing the Eagles’ defense its highest point total allowed this season.

Paris now looks to bounce back this Friday, November 7th, when they travel to Two Rivers for the regular-season finale. The Gators enter the matchup 1-8 overall and 0-6 in conference play, with their only win coming in the season opener against Class 2A Baptist Prep, 28-21. Two Rivers is allowing over 40 points per game, making this a prime opportunity for a “get-right game” before the playoffs begin.

The Eagles are currently tied for second place with Cutter-Morning Star and Magnet Cove. Depending on other results this week, Paris has a chance to host a first-round playoff game with a win on Friday.
