The Paris Eagles continued their strong conference play this past week with a decisive 41-12 win over the Jessieville Lions. Paris was able to strike early in the first quarter when quarterback Josh Honea connected with Jayden Carter for a 30-yard touchdown. The Eagles’ offense exploded in the second quarter, adding three more scores–a 49-yard touchdown pass to Ty Farmer, a 65-yard toss to Brock Barnhill, and another 33-yard touchdown to Farmer with just six seconds left in the half. Jessieville managed to get on the board with a long rushing touchdown a minute before halftime. In the third quarter, the Eagles kept their foot on the gas. Dimitri Capo added a rushing touchdown, and Jayden Carter hauled in his second receiving score of the night. Jessieville added one more touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles were still able to secure a 41-12 victory. The win improves Paris’ record to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
For the second straight week, Honea surpassed the 300-yard mark through the air. He finished the night completing 18 of 22 passes for 349 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. While the run game totaled just 54 yards on 19 carries and one score, the Eagles did most of their damage through the air, racking up 403 total yards of offense and six touchdowns despite two turnovers.
Ty Farmer led the receiving corps with nine catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns, while Brock Barnhill added four receptions for 97 yards and a score. Jayden Carter contributed six receptions for 89 yards and two touchdowns, along with several explosive punt returns that flipped field position for Paris’s favor.
Defensively, the Eagles were equally impressive. They held Jessieville to just 36% passing, forced three interceptions, and recovered a fumble, limiting the Lions to 254 total yards. The defense continues to shine, allowing only 11.1 points per game on the season.
Linebacker Joel Johnson led the team with 11 tackles, while Dalton Farnam added nine tackles and a fumble recovery. Cornerback Jude Rainwater chipped in with seven tackles, and the trio of Harley Barnhill, Jayden Carter, and Ty Farmer each came up with an interception. Up front, Whitman Patton was once again a disruptive force, recording five tackles, two for loss, and three deflected punts.
The Eagles (6-1, 4-0) will hit the road this Friday, October 24th, to face the Magnet Cove Panthers (5-2 (3-1). The Panthers’ only conference loss came against Glen Rose, and their only other setback came against 6-1 Fordyce. Magnet Cove’s defense has allowed 31.8 points per game, setting up what could be another high-scoring matchup. With just three regular-season games remaining, a win this week would push Paris to 7-1 overall and keeping them undefeated in conference play at 5-0.
