The Eagles fell to 0-1 in conference and 2-3 overall after this past Friday’s game against Cedarville. Coming into this game the Pirates were 3-1. With their run heavy offense they were able to go for nearly 400 yards on the ground and five total touchdowns.

The game started with a break off run by the Pirates to go up on the Eagles 6-0, but after some back and forth, including two Harley Barnhill receiving touchdowns and a rushing touchdown by quarterback Josh Honea, the Eagles led 21-13 early in the third quarter. Cedarville was able to finish the game scoring 22 unanswered giving them the victory.

The offense was able to put up nearly 300 yards through the air and over a hundred on the ground. Honea scored 3 total touchdowns and Landon Robberson led the running backs with 77 yards. Harley Barnhill hauled in nine receptions for 119 yards and two scores, trailing him was Ty Farmer with 7 receptions for 87 yards and Brock Barnhill for 56 yards off of 4 catches.

This week the Eagles face the Charleston Tigers at home. Charleston holds a record of 1-3 with this being their first conference game. Their 1-3 record is against 4A competition only, including a close loss to Booneville, a win against Clinton, and two blowout losses to Ozark and Pottsville. The Tigers still rank 15th in the Hootens 3A rankings and are coming off of some rest from the bye week. This looks to be a big game for both teams as Charleston looks to start conference play with a win, and the Eagles try to get their record to .500 in conference.
