Paris Drops opener to Gentry

The Eagles struggled last Friday in a home game against Gentry, where they were

defeated 47-0. Paris starts the non-conference schedule 0-1 with a big road game coming up this Friday.

Turnovers were a major issue for Paris, as four interceptions hurt the Eagles against the Pioneers. Quarterback Josh Honea threw for 88 yards, while Isaac Churchman led the Eagles on the ground with 53 yards on 25 attempts. In the receiving game, Athan Wells led the corps with 36 yards on three catches. Harley Barnhill followed with five receptions for 30 yards. Paris will look to have a breakout game offensively this Friday against Clarksville.

Defensively, senior linebacker Joel Johnson led the team with nine tackles and two sacks. Harley Barnhill was second on the team with six tackles, while Wells and linebacker Dalton Farnam both recorded four tackles. The Eagles allowed 372 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. Gentry added two more touchdowns on the ground and finished with 443 total yards against the Paris defense.

Paris will look to bounce back this week against 0-1 Clarksville. The 5A Panthers suffered a 35-10 home loss to Waldron last week. This will be another opportunity for the Eagles to earn their first win of the 2026 season and bounce back from last week’s loss.
